Celebrate Fairchild’s sweetest event throughout 83 acres of tropical paradise with artisan chocolatiers, interactive chocolate making displays, sweet samples, and cooking demonstrations. FAIRCHILD RECEIVES $1.24 MILLION GRANT FROM NASA FOR GROWING BEYOND EARTH STEM EDUCATION PROGRAM

Miami, FL, July 13, 2016 – Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden is pleased to announce it has been awarded a $1.24 million grant from NASA for its Growing Beyond Earth STEM education program as part of the2015 Competitive Program for Science Museums, Planetariums and NASA Visitor Centers Plus Other Opportunities. Fairchild’s proposal was one of nine selected from 73 applications.

Coral Gables, FL, June 10, 2016 – On June 1, 2016, Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden received the highest rating of four out of four stars from Charity Navigator, the U.S.’s largest evaluator of charities. The ratings assessed financial performance metrics, accountability and transparency performance metrics, income statements, and compensation. Fairchild received an overall score of 95.58 out of 100.00 with a 100% score for accountability and transparency.

On Friday, May 6 from 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden will honor this day with special admission prices: $20 for adults, $13 for seniors 65 and up, and $7 for kids 6-17.

FAIRCHILD GARDEN AND THE VILLAGE OF PALMETTO BAY PARTNER TO PLANT ENDANGERED ORCHIDS FOR THE MILLION ORCHID PROJECT

Coral Gables, FL, April 15, 2016 – Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the Village of Palmetto Bay have partnered to increase the number of native and endangered Florida orchids as part of the Million Orchid Project. The conservation initiative, which began in December 2012 with the opening of Fairchild’s DiMare Science Village, aims to grow one million endangered orchids and reintroduce them to South Florida’s urban spaces. Palmetto Bay officials, Fairchild staff, and students of the BioTECH @ Richmond Heights High School botany magnet program will join on Earth Day, Friday, April 22 at 8:00 a.m., to plant native orchids in trees at the triangular median located at 16725 S. Dixie Highway in Palmetto Bay.
